A mixed use artery of Amman’s new downtown. It includes hotels, offices, residences, retail uses and was designed to attract a flow of pedestrians intrigued by its programmatic variety. The project is currently one of the most successful public spaces in Amman, and is adopted by local communities as a focal point for commercial and civic activities.
Scope: 45-villa hillside retreat overlooking heart-shaped beach between two mountain peaks. Wellness, recreational, and retail programming with strategic building placement: clubhouse and restaurant positioned on sheer hillsides for commanding sea and sunrise/sunset views; spa, reception, and villas on natural and engineered plateaus. Connected pedestrian network throughout.
Challenge: Design a cohesive resort experience across dramatically varied topography - steep rocky hillsides meeting coastal setting. Resolve extreme elevation changes while maximizing views and creating accessible guest circulation without compromising the site's natural character.
Approach: Terrace and retaining wall strategy creates buildable plateaus while preserving dramatic hillside character. Strategic program placement: anchor landmark buildings (clubhouse, restaurant) on exposed slopes for maximum visual impact; distribute guest accommodations across more accessible terraces.
