Amman New Downtown
An economic hub for Jordan
Project description
Laceco was appointed the design and supervision of the Master plan and related infrastructure utilities for new Amman downtown Abdali expending over an area of 48 hectares and transforming highly under used hectares of prime real estate into an active city center. This parceling plan includes residential, office, hotels, and retail space that brings together high-rise towers and open green spaces for residents, workers and visitors to enjoy.
The brief
Abdali aimed to achieve the below objectives:
- Implement a network of road and infrastructure utilities to serve the Downtown’s urban anchors (retail, public spaces, offices hub residential hub, leisure etc..)
- Conceive a central Green Park Area and all relevant utilities there in, as the green heart of the downtown
Our response
- Designing a roads network of total length 12 km consisting of collectors and local roads while integrating it in a high pedestrian occupancy area respecting the high safety requirements and accessibility to different facilities.
- Implementing grey water recycling inside all developments with the project in view of the water shortage and scarcity in Amman,
- Designing domestic water networks, 2 fire hydrants independent loops (one serving the downtown streets and the second serving the Park Area), sanitary sewage and storm water drainage networks,
- Designing a central automatic irrigation network for the streets and Park area,
- Designing high/medium/low voltage distribution networks, including the related MV/LV package substations, street and landscape lighting.
- Designing security/telecom/fire distribution networks including inspection hand-holes and duct-banks
Interesting facts
- Abiding to the requirements of the Jordanian code for fire protection and firefighting and Jordanian Civil Defense requirements, be it for public or private spaces.
- Implementing District water cooling and heating networks, and central plant, for the first time in Amman
