Mayrouba-Jouret Tormos Road Rehabilitation
Roads and Infrastructure Rehabilitation
Project description
Laceco was selected by the Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR) for the design and rehabilitation and widening of a 13 km road serving a population of 15,000 inhabitants, including the rehabilitation of infrastructure networks such as storm, potable water and street lighting.
The brief
CDR aimed to achieve the following:
- Enhance the serviceability of the existing road and related utilities.
- Valuation of travel time and providing a safe and smooth links between the targeted areas
- Upgrade the utilities networks along with the road upgrading
Our response
Laceco responded to the above needs by:
- Proposing a road centerline that runs along the existing road as possible and propose new alignment where applicable
- Upgrading and designing the water supply network and tank controls, including 12km pipelines, with all corresponding appurtenances and removal of existing mains.
- Evaluation the existing sewage collection system and designing a new gravity collection system containing 8km of sanitary sewer, and 2 lift stations along with design of a new sewage treatment plant (process design has been subcontracted to a specialist)
- Designing of low voltage and telephone distribution networks, including the related street lighting.
Interesting facts
- Compromising between mountainous areas and existing intersections to obtain the most comfortable roadway
- Complete village wide reviews of the existing potable/sewerage water distribution systems to determine a plan of action for the replacement of their aging water and waste water mains
- Comprehensive database was fully integrated including special data on topography and geology in Arc View based GIS system
